Blazers Defeat Barons and Move On to SFCBL Championsip Series

It was definitely SFCBL playoff baseball at its best during the Blazer Baron series as both games came right down to the final outs to determine a winner.  Tonight’s second playoff game included multiple lightning delays, 4 lead changes and 11 innings of play.  Going into the top of the 9th inning the Blazers trailed 5-7 as Sam Abrams (University of Miami) threw 5 scoreless innings of relief.  With one out in the top of the 9th inning Joe macDonald (Middlebury College) hit a double on a 1-2 count.  Teammate Tanner Sandel (Christian Brothers University) singled and moved MacDonald to third. Cedric Mullins (Louisberg Junior College) then hit a triple on a 1-2 count to tie the game 7-7.  The 10th inning for both teams was scoreless.  In the top of the 11th inning with two outs once again Cedric Mullins came up to the plate and hit a double.  Teammate Corey Hamula (Brockport State University) walked.  With runners on first and second Mullins advanced to 3rd base on a wild pitch.  Hayden Kelley (University of South Florida) then hit a line drive single scoring Mullins which proved to be the game winning hit.  Spencer Webb (Plymouth State University) came in for the save in the bottom of the 11th and cclosed the game out.

The Blazers will now move on to the 2013 SFCBL Championship Series and will play either the Pompano Beach Clippers or FOS Eagles of Loxahatchee.
